Wassup.
Today has been crazy, crazy, CRAZY, so this post is going up a bit later than usual. It’s all good, though; we can roll with it.
So let’s jump right into this one, shall we?
We’re talking about relieving the torture that is dry skin. I’m talking arid-desert, dinosaur skin.
Moving from a more humid part of Texas ( my college town is near Houston, so that’s the level of humidity we’re talking about ) to southern California has taken a toll on my skin this month. Moisturizing my face/bod has become a HIGH priority in my beauty routine.
I’ve teamed up with Vitamin Shoppe to share some of my go-to rejuvenating serums/oils to moisturize dry skin.
Coconut Oil
Okay, this one is a bit of a no-brainer. Liquid coconut oil can be used for SO many things… it’s versatility lends itself well to being a staple on my counter ( AND in my kitchen! ).
I use coconut oil all over my bod after taking a shower, slathering it on while my skin is still damp to seal in moisture.
I usually apply it to my cuticles & to the ends of my hair when it’s looking a little *bleh,* too.
You can also use coconut oil to remove eye makeup ( though I usually opt for vitamin E oil or micellar water ), as an ingredient in a DIY hair or face mask ( Pinterest has THOUSANDS of options! ), or for something a little more… interesting, as one my fav bloggers, The Skinny Confidential, talked about a few months back.
Avocado Oil
This one’s a little less talked about, I think.
Avocado oil works exactly like you’d expect this superfood’s oil to work… it’s a revitalizing, moisturizing, over-all skin-perfecting situation. The Vitamin Shoppe’s avo oil contains antioxidant vitamin E, which is ultra-nourishing & balances out skin tone.
I add a few pumps of avocado oil to my moisturizer & hyaluronic acid serum combo at night, and to my sunscreen, hyaluronic acid serum, & anti-aging moisturizer combo during the day.
I find that this oil is really light, instead of greasy, on the skin.
Hyaluronic Acid
I’ve talked about this one on H+H before, because it’s an anti-aging MAGIC POTION in a bottle. Hyaluronic Acid is the Michael Jordan of skin hydration, in my humble opinion. It’s the star of the freaking show.
I apply it at night & in the morning, and it has totally changed the moisturizing game for me.
Also, I’m loving that this, in combination with the avo oil, thins out my moisturizing creams & my sunscreen ( during the day ), so I can apply both in a thin, transparent layer. That whole white-face look I get after applying sunscreen drives me crazy.
Just, no.
The above three products are my ride-or-die, apply-every-day products. A few other things I got from Vitamin Shoppe’s skin-refreshing beauty section are the alpha lipoic acid anti-aging cream ( I wear it as a daytime face moisturizer ) and Vitamin E & biotin supplements.
Vitamin E blocks free radicals from the bod, which is super helpful when it comes to aging gracefully.
Biotin, as many of you probably know, supports hair, skin & nail growth. What I didn’t know about biotin: its a part of the B-complex family of essential vitamins and is needed for carbohydrate, fat & amino acid metabolism, as well as for cellular energy production.

This is sooooo informative 🙂
I don’t necessarily have dry skin, but I love putting my facial oil on my beauty blender because it helps blend + moisturize at the same time! And I’m all about savin that time.
