Hi Wieners.
Wassup?
This morning, I’m spending a little time with my family. AKA: I just watched my mom & my little brother, Brooks, get in a heated argument after my mother tried to convince him to go to Six Flags with her. Apparently, he’s the only 10 year old in the world who hates funnel cakes, roller coasters, and souvenir apparel. This is a high stress environment over here. Brooks has deemed ‘Six Flags’ his most-hated word of the month. Oh, the drama.
Anywhooo… while I listened to this deep & compelling argument, I sipped on this Grapefruit Mocktail.
I’m getting into juicing at home lately, because I bought a new juicer from Gilt. I’m a little bored now ( moving to a small Texas town from Los Angeles, CA will do that to ya ), and I get SUPER restless if I’m not constantly busy, so I’m juicing for sport now. Also, I like knowing what is going into the finished product. I’ll do a whole post about the benefits of juicing from home ( w/ lots of info from one of my favorite books: Skinny Bitch ) at some point!
This morning’s juice is made with Grapefruit, Mint, Ginger, & Cinnamon ( but really, the only thing I juiced was the grapefruit.. need to buy some liquid ginger! ). If you can’t juice it yourself, try to get organic, 100% juice from the store. None of that nasty-ass stuff. The benefits of these ingredients are killer.
♥ Grapefruit: is used to lower cholesterol levels, works with your metabolism ( to increase weight loss & fight obesity ), & used to alleviate symptoms of psoriasis. ( source )
♥ Ginger: used to treat stomach issues like motion sickness, morning sickness, colic ( I had this so bad when I was little ), upset stomach, gas, diarrhea, & nausea. I always add a little ginger to my juice/water when I’m trying to detox. ( source )
♥ Cinnamon: balances blood sugar levels. ( source )
♥ Mint: promotes digestion, cleanses palate, & MAKES IT 10x FRESHER. ( source )
HOW-TO:
♥ Muddle Mint ( I used LOTS ) in a glass & add chilled Grapefruit juice.
♥ OPTIONAL: pour in a splash of water to dilute the juice a tiny bit.
♥ Stir in ( or shake in a cocktail shaker! fun. ) Ginger & Cinnamon until mostly dissolved.
♥ Add Ice & drank.
I would assume that y’all don’t need directions for this one, but ya never know, ya know?
Sometimes, I throw in a little lemon to make things really interesting. I know what you’re thinking: Yes, my life is so much fun & I’m so cool. I can’t help it, you guys.
PS: one of my best frands in Los Angeles ( who I met through blogging actually… LOLOLOL ), Tessa, created a YouTube channel for makeup tips & shiz, and I’m SO PROUD OF HER! You can check out her first video ( and browse her channel ) here. I only begged her 38942375 times to start one, because her makeup/hair situation is always ‘on point.’ Happiness!
C ya later, folks. xx
