HELLO.
As many of you know, ya girl is no stranger to a night OUT out. I shut myself away all week, putting in lots of behind-the-scenes work, so I’ve rationalized that I DESERVE a day or night of tequila-drinking on the weekends.
It’s the rules. You can peep my weekend drink-of-choice here, btw.
Also, I’m a Capricorn, which allegedly means the work-hard-play-hard mentality is quite literally written in the stars for me. *moves to LA and starts using astrology to justify drunken behaviors*
One question I get frequently when Friday night rolls around: WHAT DO I WEAR TO A BAR/CLUB?
Well, luckily for y’all, I have a very specific night-out-look formula that I follow. Its casual enough for a bar but sexy enough for a club. I’m a creature of habit, and I like to stick to a formula that works.
My no-fail going-out-look formula = BODYSUIT + HIGH-WAIST SKINNIES + CUTE JACKET + PLATFORM BOOTIES.
It’s simple. It always looks effortlessly good. I’m always comfortable in it.
BODYSUITS
Most of my favorite affordable bodysuits for going-out are from Nasty Gal. They’re SO inexpensive. The fit can be kind of a hit-or-miss, but at the price, I don’t even mind. I generally stick with black, but occasionally I’ll choose something colorful.
JEANS
I always opt for an ULTRA-high-waist, because my body type isn’t exactly an hour-glass ( hi, I’m sponge bob ). High-quality, ultra-high-waist jeans forge a waist where I’m lacking one. Love that. My favorite jeans are my Citizen’s of Humanity skinnies. I’ve worn them 239428 times & they have’t faded or stretched out. GOALS.
JACKETS
My favorite part. I usually wear some sort of vintage oversized bomber or leather jacket over a lace bodysuit. I always find the best vintage jackets at the Melrose Trading Post ( happens every Sunday at Fairfax High School! ) or on sites like Etsy. You’ll find me wearing my XXL LA Kings Bomber or my Texas A&M silky bomber most nights.
BOOTIES
Confession: I’ve been wearing the SAME platform booties out to the clurb/bar since college. They’re SUPER tall but also comfortable/easy to walk in ( but no longer available online– sorry pals ). I don’t invest $$$ in going-out shoes, because they’re just going to get stepped on & spilled on anyways. A solid black platform bootie is always a safe go-to. Just make sure they’re comfortable!
Et voila! That’s what I wear out on a normal basis.
Sometimes I’ll switch things up and wear a mini skirt or some sort of printed pant, but only on RARE occasions. Like I said, I’m a creature of habit. Once I find something I feel comfortable in, I stick to it.
I realize its only Monday, but this post already has me ready for the weekend. LOL.
K, ily, talk soon. xx
