Is it just me or did this weekend just flash by in about .5 seconds?
I feel like it didn’t actually happen.
Odd.
Welp, I’ve finally gotten around to incorporating a beauty post into my posting schedule, which is so so rare.
I’m extremely minimal when it comes to makeup because 1) I’m not at all skilled in makeup artistry, & 2) my face just doesn’t look all that great with a ton of makeup on. My eyes are kind of small, so that steamy, sexy smokey eye makes it look like my eyes are actually closed. They get lost in all of that shadow & liner. LOL, but really.
Also, I don’t have the time or patience to spend forever on my makeup.
One thing I can play around with is lip color/gloss/product. I’m not lacking there, thank G. Also, putting on a pretty lip color is quick & takes little-to-no skill. So, this is perfect for me, HA.
Right now, I’m loving this limited edition lip color trio by Bobbi Brown from Neiman Marcus.
Okay, let’s chat about something for a sec: Neiman Marcus has been my favorite place/sanctuary since I started driving, basically. In high school, my friends and I would go to Neiman’s after school to ‘release stress’ ( because life at our private prep school was wayyy rough ), i.e. eat a popover with the MOUTHWATERING creamy spread, walk around CUSP, pick up some makeup, secretly charge an outfit to our Moms’ Neiman’s accounts ( my Mom is like ‘yeah, wtf you can’t just do that…’ ), etc. I mean, it was a hard life. Every time I enter Neiman Marcus, I feel like I’m just floating around all angelically, and I instantly feel happier & cleaner. Let’s refer to this as the NM Effect, and it is alive and well. Side: this post is already making me feel like a brat… but this is my VICE.
I’m all about a good deal & wasting money really does give me anxiety, but when I’m taken over by the NM Effect, all of that seems to fade away. Am I addicted to Neiman’s? Yikes. This is kind of sick.
So, Neiman’s has a greeeeat cosmetics section, and they carry pretty much every cult-favorite makeup brand that you can think of. Bobbi Brown is one of these classic makeup lines.
Another fun fact? I got my Prom/Homecoming/every-other-formal-event makeup done at either the Bobbi Brown or Chanel counter in Neiman’s when I was younger. Bottom line: I have spent like half of my life in this place. Memories.
Today, I’ve teamed up with Neiman Marcus & Bobbi Brown to share these Fall lip colors with y’all. My entire life has led to this moment. Dreams do come true.
APPLYING LIP COLOR LIKE A BOSS
Wearing a colored lip means you have to start with a good base. I like my lips to be exfoliated & hydrated, so the color goes on smoothly & stays put longer.
First, I gently exfoliate my lips with a dampened, soft bristle tooth brush ( I got this one from Forever 21 ). Then, I use a light lip hydrating treatment or balm. I really like this lip treatment by Fresh. Then, I chill for a sec while it sets on my lips & gets less balm-y, ya know?
Next, I line my lips, over-lining just the tiniest bit, with a lip liner that is close in shade to the lipstick that I’m planning on wearing. Obviously. Bobbi Brown has a set that comes with liners in four different colors, so I recommend that in conjunction with the Bobbi Brown lipsticks. Simple enough.
I also color in some of my lip with the liner pencil, just to make sure that the liner & lipstick will blend seamlessly.
SOFT ROSE
The first lipstick color is Soft Rose.
This color is the boldest of the bunch, but it’s understated enough that you could actually wear it on a daily basis. It’s not too much, but it packs a mini-punch. Also, I think the rosy shade is pretty universally skin tone flattering.
SALMON
This orangey-pink Salmon is perfect for the girl who likes understated & simple, but wants to mix it up just a little. The color of this one is especially sheer & buildable, so you can go brighter or darker depending on how much you apply.
PALE MAUVE
This is my favorite color that comes in the Bobbi Brown Lip Color Trio. Of course, I like the plainest/most simple choice. Pale Mauve comes closest to matching my lips’ natural color, yet it provides just the right amount of pinky tint.
Less is more in my book.
This Limited Edition Lip Color Trio is really rockin’ my world already. The colors are flawless and the formula is glossy & creamy, but it doesn’t run or stray from my lips. I don’t really want to be applying lip color every 5 seconds, so the staying power is a must for me. Lazy.
To round out the rest of my simple beauty look, I use:
1. Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Tinted Moisturizer ( in Beige 40 )
2. Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer
3. NARS Bronzing Powder
4. Bobbi Brown Rose Shimmer Blush
5. Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder
6. Laura Mercier Brow Powder Duo
7. Dior Diorshow Mascara
& the nail color I’m wearing is Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Nail Lacquer in Blue Blood.
I’m SO ready for fall right meow. This post got me a little ahead of myself, considering it’s still HOT AS HELL here in Texas, and it will be for awhile. Typical.

These are so not my shades of lipsticks. But I really liked this post and the part on how to apply lip color/taking care of ones lips was really helpful/ Love Ida

I love this lip trio! Definitely going to pick it up this week. Thanks so much for sharing your tips for applying lipsticks. I always forget to exfoliate, but it goes a long way.
