Helllllur.
I have ONE more day of wanting to absolutely punch someone in the throat ( AKA: one more day of studying/paper writing ) & I will be DONE with college!
I had to take a second to step back from all the boring stuff to unwind with a blog post. So, here goes it.
Okay, so I’m a choker maniac right meow.
LOL– that sounds super serial-killer-esque ( which is totally my vibe with all of this school shit lately, so that is fitting ).
DIYing your chokers sounds kind of like a ‘DUH’-moment, right? This post serves as your reminder that this is a THING, and you should take advantage of this fashion hack.
I definitely DIYed these before, back in my late-90s/early-2000s choker days. I saw Britney Spears with that black choker on & I went right to tying all types of ribbon, string, etc. around my neck.
B-Spears. The OG queen of my life.
One of my besties reminded me how genius DIYing necklaces is when she brought 10000+ types of ribbon on our most recent trip to Los Angeles. So simple. I suddenly felt like an idiot for spending a somewhat absurd amount of money on my most recent choker purchase ( even though it is killer ).
When I got home from our spring break mini trip, I went straight to Hobby Lobby ( any craft store works, obviously ) to stock up on choker materials.
( … can’t get over how murder this sounds rn ).
I found some really fun colored ribbon, leather string, studded leather, and a few spools of textured ribbon ( that LACE one! ) from the upholstery section. It was all SO affordable ( especially since Hobby Lobby is always having a sale ), so it was prime time for choker material hoarding.
I spent around $1 per spool of ribbon, and about the same for the leather string/wrap that was on sale. The result looks much more expensive/chic, so I can dig it.
I’ve been wearing them out & on my Instagram/Snapchat a lot lately. AND I’ve gotten so many compliments on how cute my necklaces have been…
*Cue me sitting there with the biggest smile on my face, so excited to tell whoever complimented my look the TRUTH about my cheap-ass accessory*
Why does this kind of stuff make me so sincerely excited.
Like I said, it’s almost so obvious ( TOO obvious ) that people just overlook this very important DIY. It’s the most important. REMINDER: this is a thing. Do it.
So do y’all LOVE, or do y’all love?
Talk soon, loves.
xx
PS: See a cutie DIY necklace combo in my most recent Instagram. ( <<< the non-DIY choker in this photo can be found here ).

Love this idea! Definitely better than spending 50 dollars on a piece of lace, haha! Definitely going to give these a try.

I absolutely adore this idea. It’s so smart and affordable (especially for something so simple)! Honestly, the price of some the chokers I have seen have been keeping me away from the trend, but now that I can have as many as I want at such a great price, I think that I’ll hop on the bandwagon.
