Hi Babes!
So, I just got home from New York City & I can’t wait to share the details of the whole trip with y’all! I’ll be updating my Guide to NYC & doing a whole post about it later this week. Ugh, I love New York.
Anyways, a couple of weeks ago, I had the chance to team up with Gloria Ferrer to throw the cutest, boozy BFF holiday party EVER.
Can I just say that I’m actually LOLing seeing some of my best friends on H+H for a real person post? The video is even more entertaining. HA.
My friends Laurel & Tina are two of my real-deal beebuses. Thanks for taking on the super difficult job of drinking sparkling wine & indulging in yum-o food with me. I know it was a real sacrifice and you both proved to be such naturals at it.
To prepare for the night, I made a quick trip to the store for the necessary goods, boiled my Christmas-in-a-Pot recipe on the stovetop all day ( to make my house smell AMAZE ), and turned on some party tunes.
For food, I set up a cheese & meat plate ( think manchego, brie, goat cheese, sausage, honey, jam, etc. ), LOTS of fruit, & a bowl of dark chocolate greek yogurt dip that I’ll share a recipe for soon!
Lemme just say, the snack spread was perfect for the occasion.
Obviously, we had lots of Gloria Ferrer sparkling wine. I dropped a mini candy cane in each of our glasses because it was s’cuttttte.
Then we got a little cray.
It is the holiday season, so that’s what you’re supposed to do, right?
OK hold. Let’s talk about my girl Gloria Ferrer for a sec.
The Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards are located in the ever-so-popular Sonoma County ( actually thinking of making a trip here soon! Anyone have any tips on this area? ). I love a good California-based biz.
Sometimes choosing a sparkling wine for an event/special occasion can be daunting/intimidating. Also, these types of wines are often WAY too sweet for my tastes. I really like Gloria Ferrer‘s selection ( specifically the 2007 Royal Cuvée Brut & the Sonoma Brut ) because they are fruit-forward, without being too sweet, and they taste good with everything.
Considering our diverse food spread, that’s exactly what we needed for our little shindig.
The Gloria Ferrer fan describes the wine’s taste as the bottled expressions of the vines, hillsides, fog, wind, and sky of Carneros. Light, airy, & ethereal. Um, I can dig it ( esp for a sickeningly-girly holiday party with my BFFs.. sometimes, you just gotta go for it ).
I love the sparkling wine thing because it’s such a social/elegant beverage. Like, you aren’t pounding shots, trying to get crazy drunk. We sipped our Gloria Ferrer, caught up a bit, and, okay…. maybe got a little tipsy.
I wouldn’t exactly use the word ‘elegant’ to describe my friends & I ( as you can probably tell ) but sipping on wine like real people made us feel like we were…. even if it was only for a couple of hours. College problems.
Let’s just say it was a good night with my peeps.
Another cool thing? This sparkling wine is quality without an INSANE price tag. By ‘quality,’ I actually mean ‘it’s the freaking shit.’
Gloria Ferrer wines have earned over 400 gold medals & 50 90+ scores ( by Wine Spectator, AKA legit, expert wine ratings ) in the last 5 years. DID I MENTION ITS AFFORDABLE?
So, I think this stuff would work really well for an event, a hostess gift, a Christmas/b-day gift, etc. Basically, if you need to do some serious impressing, you’d be safe picking up a few bottles of Gloria Ferrer. I’ll be making it my go-to.
Gloria Ferrer, ya really outdid yourself for my BFF holiday party. And for that, we thank you.
Ugh, we had such a damn good time being tipsy off of good wine & eating cheese/chocolate. What could possibly be better? Seriously, though.
I want to go back and do it again. NYE, anyone? I’m thinking yes.
Round 2 is coming up realllllll fast, I guess.
Talk soon ya bunch-a-beebuses.
xx
