This Dress. Is a God-Send.
So, the other day, I was walking around my neighborhood ( I guess thats what you call it? ), West 3rd Street, and I happened upon this cutie little sample sale shop called Shopaholic Sample Sales. I had never really had the sample sale shopping experience before, and as a SALE-OBSESSED FREAK ( proof: my addiction to Gilt.com ), I. was. in. heaven.
This place has a lot of really sweet Aussie labels ( score ), among other things. AND, all the dresses were like $70, plus some were on sale! My heart could not handle all of this overwhelming excitement. I felt like I had just discovered… idk… like, America or something.
Let’s talk about this dress: I am OBSESSED with shift dresses paired with chunky shoes. I always have been. Always will be. I know the gladiators pictured here aren’t exactly ‘chunky’, but the shoes that I purchased the dress WITH ( pics coming soon ) are some absolutely amazing, Chloe-inspired ( my favorite brand this Spring ), chunky-AF, wooden heels ( for more than half-off, I’ll add ).
The reason I love the whole shift look is: it highlights my thinner features ( my stick legs ) and covers my, well, not-thinnest features ( stomach… urg. ). Its a win-win. And this shift, by Finder’s Keepers, is kinda sexy too. A sexy shift dress is kind of an oxymoron, so you’ll have to really dig for this combo. I like the understated plunge in the front, because it makes the dress a little less 5-year-old-on-Easter. And the color? Win.
Because I got this at a sample sale, I don’t have the link to buy this exact dress, but I’ve provided some links below to get a similar look (PS: they make a Shirt version of this dress, found here). Unfortunately, the way this dress is made, I always end up hating the cheaper versions, because I think its tough to hit this one on the head in terms of fit & quality. Let’s be honest: I don’t want to leave you links to shit clothing. Have any of you seen a quality, sexy-shift, for a less-than-runway price?? Gimme links people!
Much love.
xx
