This iced coffee is so legit, I might even say buh-bye to my daily Starbucks iced-coffee… *GASP*… did I just say that?
True Life: I’m a Starbucks addict. I’m talking gold-card-member-since-2011 (the year they started this “discount”/mind-fuck, membership system), don’t-talk-to-me-before-my-Starbs kind of gal, so you know I’m a true fan. But… aren’t we all? Call me a basic bitch, but I enjoy my daily non-fat iced coffee.
The truth is, I don’t know if I really trust Starbucks coffee anymore. I know its not necessarily “clean” or organic, and I’d much rather go a little out of my way to discover an extremely healthy & wholesome way to start my day everyday.
Also, let’s just crunch some numbers here: A Venti Iced Coffee (w/ milk) is about $3, right? And because they add SO much ice, which I love-to-hate & hate-to-love at the same time, you don’t even get that much coffee. An iced coffee a day will end up costing you right at $1,095 a year. Personally, I don’t have much of a problem with this, because everyone has their vices (and my coffee is one of mine!), but it is certainly something to consider.
Welp, here’s my quick solution for when I’m feeling real “eat-clean, train-mean” or when I’m a broke bitch. My own, homemade iced coffee. (Plus, this way I can use almond milk, instead of non-fat or soy.. because ew).
I really like Chameleon Cold Brew, because its organic and its a Black Coffee concentrate, which means a little goes a LONG way. So, you can dilute it, and it will maintain its flavor. They have Black Coffee, Vanilla, and Mocha options, and they have bottles that you can buy single-serving, 4-serving, and 8-serving (by the way, this is not a sponsored post… I just really dig this cold-brew). You know I love my options.
Also, I like buying this stuff because I’m lazy and cold-brewing my own coffee sounds difficult, though I bet it would save a LOT of money. Things to consider, again.
What I use:
• 1 Serving of Chameleon Cold-Brew (Black Coffee)
• About 1/2 Cup-1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
• 1 Packet of Stevia
• Dash of Cinnamon
• Ice, Ice, Babbbbby
How-To:
First, I start with a big ol’ glass of ice. I pour the almond milk over the ice, and then the cold-brew coffee. Then, I sprinkle in the cinnamon/stevia (and any extras you want.. i.e. nutmeg, pumpkin spice, more vanilla, etc.). Secret tip: If you want the Starbucks-refreshment in every sip, shake if together in a (covered) cup to mix/allow everything to be cooled by the ice. I don’t recommend doing this with an uncovered glass… lolz. Then get to sippin’.
Do any of you brew your own cold-brew? Care to share any tips/give me some advice on how to do that?
Or, do any of y’all have a pre-made cold-brew coffee that you LOVE??
Maybe I’ll give it a try.
xx
