I Pay My Own Rent, but Don’t Ask Me for Adult Advice Yet: An Outfit ( x River Island )

TGIF, amiiiiiriiiight??

Yesterday, I took the whole day off of work ( basically ) to drive my beloved Drogo ( for those of you who are new here, Drogo is my 90-pound German Shepherd… you can meet him in my Dog Birthday Party post, LOL ) to Scottsdale, AZ.

I got Drogo when he was a lil pup, back when I was a sophomore in college. My grandparents took him in when I moved to Los Angeles ( they live on various ranches/places with lots of land ), with a plan to return him to me once I settled in here in LA.

I picked him up from Arizona ( which is halfway between Los Angeles & where my grandparents stay in Colorado during the summer, so its a nice meeting spot for us ) & brought him to California a few months ago. He LOVED the beach, befriended my roomie’s pup, & enjoyed our long morning walks to Brentwood, but, ultimately, I think he’s happier when he has lots of room & land to run around on.

Back to Texas/Colorado he goes. I LOVE my baby child like I basically birthed him, so as long as he’s a happy dog, I’m content.

So, I drove for about 14 hours in total yesterday. In preparation for such a trek, I posted on my Instagram story asking y’all for podcast/audiobook/playlist recommendations. I was shocked by the number of amazing responses I got from Instagram followers!

Some of you even asked me to share what other H+H-ers recommended to me ( um, HELLO, bomb-ass H+H community! ), so I did so in the caption of this Instagram post, if you’re interested in that. I’ll do a full post on my favorite podcasts very soon, as well.

alright, on to more important topics: my suit situation

I’m partnering with River Island today to bring y’all this chic-as-hell suit for fall inspiration. A few weeks ago, as I was sitting out on my balcony, pondering life over my protein smoothie, I realized that I will be 24 FREAKING YEARS OLD this December ( aka: ancient ).

In the past, when I saw women wearing suits, I considered that look too mature for me, though I’ve always LOVED the put-together vibe a good suit set gives off. Then I realized, I am PRIME TIME age ( also known as working-age ) to sport bomb outfits like this one.

New rule: once you can drink alcohol legally, you gotta buy at least one fresh-ass suit for work / play / whatever.

For fall, I’m loving a printed &/or a fun color suit paired with a casual tee & sneakers.

The suit says, “hey, I pay my own rent now,” while the tee/sneakers say “… but I’m still learning to navigate adult life, so don’t ask me for any advice because idk.”

River Island has a number of suits & standalone blazer options to wear this fall. What I like about River Island is it’s chic, UK-inspired vibe & it’s attainable price point. I was pleasantly surprised with the fit of everything I received from RI, & I’m SO happy to be partnering with them for the next few months to share my style as it evolves from Fall to Winter.

Let’s be honest, I live in Los Angeles, so the weather doesn’t get too cold, but I like to play around with seasonal aesthetics, so get pumped.

For a pop of color, I added my red Celine Luggage Handbag ( from Trendlee ) to this lil suit situation.

Welp, I’m off to spend my Friday shooting, working & sending off many-a-package to Poshmark customers ( & might end the night with a tequila shot or two ). Sounds like a thrilling day, righttttt? ( but actually, it does ).

I may or may not be binge-listening to the My Favorite Murder podcast, wearing my long black-widow-inspired robe alone in my apartment all day, too. Ya know, as you do when you’re creepy as fuck.
