Helllllur friends. Meet my new friend Matcha Green Tea Powder.
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to team up with Kiss Me Organics to spread the word about their Organic Matcha Powder. Most of you are like, “K, WTF is that?”
According to this source, Matcha Green Tea is the highest quality green tea powder available. Thats pretty vague, so they go further into detail with their ‘10 Amazing Benefits of Matcha Green Tea,’ which is a must-read, because this stuff is pretty freaking amazing. Really….. if you wanna know all the (very interesting) details on Matcha, click here.
As KMO advertises, their Matcha Green Tea Powder gives you all-day energy, increases metabolic function, and enhances focus. It keeps your skin looking radiant and beautiful (<< thanks to powerful antioxidants), and has 137 times the EGCg of brewed green tea. PS: “Out of all the antioxidants, EGCg is the most widely recognized for its cancer fighting properties” (source). It is some seriously good stuff.
So, how about starting the day off with some Matcha? Beyond the classic Matcha Green Tea Latte, I like to mix it up a bit, and add this super-powder (see what I did there?) to my green smoothies. I put it in my normal Morning Green Superfod Smoothie, or I make it interesting with this spicy, pineapple-jalapeño smoothie.
By the way, I was extremely skeptical of putting jalapeños in my juices/ smoothies until I accidentally tried it. Now, I’m obsessed. Isn’t that usually how those things go? Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy a more simple/basic-bitch green smoothie, but a little spice never hurt anyone.
I’m SO bad with recipes for drinks like this, because I kind of wing it with most of the ingredients when it comes to smoothies. I’ll just add or dilute where necessary, depending on what kind of mood I’m in that day. I’ll do my best to specify measurements. Just know, you can make this your own through customization to your tastebuds! Add, subtract, substitute. You get the idea. Here’s how I do things… roughly:
YOU WILL NEED:
• 1/4-1/2 Cup Pineapple
• 1 Cup Spinach
• 1 Cup (8 oz.) Coconut Water (or regular water)
• 1 Tsp Matcha Green Tea Powder
• 1-2 Tbs Chia Seeds
• About 1/4th of a jalapeño pepper (based on desired spiciness)
• 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
• 1 Packet Stevia
• Ice
HOW-TO:
Add all ingredients to a blender & blend. I like to use the ‘Ice Chop’ setting first, until the ice is well-chopped, and then I blend on a normal setting. Add more or less ice depending on how much of the smoothie you want and how diluted you want it to be.
One thing I really like about this smoothie is how the spiciness is balanced by the ice. Its SO freakin’ good… you have to try it! Don’t be scared to experiment a bit! Also, don’t forget to come back after trying to comment on this recipe. I’m always really interested to know what y’all think.
Also, on that note, is there anything you guys are interested in seeing on H+H? I’d love to hear your suggestions! You can comment here, message me on Facebook, or e-mail me at payton@hustleandhalcyon.com.
Buhhh-Bye.
