Because I’ve had the opportunity to travel quite a bit this year, I wanted to touch on a topic I’ve been asked about as-of-late: working out while traveling.
It can be difficult to incorporate working out into travels for many-a-reason. Finding time to move your body between adventures & exploring can be harrowing, and some destinations don’t boast the workout classes & fitness studios that a city like LA does ( I noticed this in Europe! ).
While I was in Europe, I had to get a little bit thrifty when it came to working out. I won’t say I left my month-long European extravaganza in the BEST shape of my life, but my friends & I did our best to be active & work out when we could. Doing something is better than doing nothing, right?
While out adventuring, I try my best to walk as much as possible. Some cities are more suited for walking than others, obviously. Walking around the city is an easy way to discover what a new place has to offer, so that’s my #1 tip for travel workouts! In Europe, we averaged 5-7 miles a day, and some days we walked much more!
In terms of toning exercises, if I don’t have a hotel gym available to me, I turn to YouTube for quick, no-equipment workouts to do in my hotel room or AirBnb. I like 10-20 minute workouts, because I am usually able to fit those into my schedule. I don’t have much of an excuse NOT to do a workout if its only 10 minutes.
If I’m feeling especially motivated, I’ll do 2 of these workouts back-to-back, combining a butt & ab workout or a legs & arms workout. Ya know, gettingĀ wild.
Let’s talk about my favorite workout videos to follow if I’m traveling, shall we?
( btw, I follow these workouts if I’m short on time & can’t make it to the gym while I’m home, too. It’s always nice to have some go-to quick workouts to do in my apartment when I feel like I need to move a little ).
Tracy Anderson Arms Workout
Clearly, the quality of this video isn’t top-of-the-line, but we don’t care about that. This workout is effective & ULTRA-quick. Don’t let this 8-minute workout fool you, it’s absolutely killer. Like, if you can do this workout all the way through without dropping your arms, you’re in better shape than I will ever be in. In my entire life, lol. I like combing this workout with a butt or legs workout!
Pamela Reif’s Booty Workout
I’m all about building & toning a booty ( who isn’t, at this point? ), so I attempted to do this workout 3 times a week or so while I was traveling for long periods of time. I’m convinced that Pamela Reif is perfect, so I’ll do anything she suggests. Like I said above, I’ll combine this booty workout with the arm workout for a quick, killer duo.
Alexis Ren’s Ab Workout
Okay, obviously I will never attain the impossibly-teeny waist Alex Ren was blessed with, but I can attempt to tone my abs to the best of my abilities. I like this ab workout because, again, it’s quick & effective. You can work out your abs every day, so incorporating this workout into your travel routine daily might just help you offset some of the eating & drinking I know you bitches are indulging in while traveling ( bc same ). I watched a video of this girl documenting the results of her doing Alexis’s ab workout every day for a month, & there was a noticeable difference in her muscle definition. If anyone tries this, please lemme know what your results are.
Romee Strijd’s Leg Workout
Obviously Romee is a literal angel, & I therefor trust her to lead me to similar angelic ways. But really, this leg workout is the PERFECT 15-minute toning session, brought to our non-super-model-selves by a super-model-approved trainer ( ever heard of Dogpound?? ). This workout in combo with an the abs or arms video is FIRE.
Et voila! I have just given y’all the EASIEST way to fit a workout in when you’re traveling, busy, or just not feeling like hitting the gym.
Now that you know this information, you can’t UN-know it, so you have no excuse to get in at least a little workout in your room, in your hotel room, outside, etc.
K, gals? Lemme know if you try any of these. Ily, bye.
