Wassup Beebs?

Currently: I am in Austin, TX for a little work ( never stops ) and a little play at the Austin City Limits music festival. I’ll only be here for a day or two, but I’m taking full advantage of this teeny break in my everyday, jam-packed routine.

OATMEAL INGREDIENTS

OATMEAL WITH FRUIT

Okay so today I’m sharing a quick & easy breakfast recipe that is filled with nutrients to help fuel your day. More often than not, oatmeal ( either store bought or at home ) turns into a big bowl of slop.

Um, ew.

BUT NOT THIS RECIPE! It’s so YUMMMM. This is my go-to, never-fail oatmeal situation.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

♥ 1 Serving ( about 1 cup ) Quick or Rolled Oats ( PLAIN! Nothing added! )
♥ Cinnamon to Taste
♥ 1/4 Tsp of Vanilla
♥ 2 packets of Born Sweet™ Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener
♥ 1 Tablespoon Hemp Hearts / Seeds
♥ 1/2 Cup or so of Berries ( I used strawberries & blueberries )

HOW-TO

♥ Prepare your oats as instructed on the box or can.
♥ Add Cinnamon, Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener, and Vanilla. Mix In.
♥ Top with berries, hemp hearts/seeds and more cinnamon to taste ( I like A LOT ). 

So, what’s the big deal with these ingredients specifically? Okay so, here are the ways this combination of health food all-stars are helping your bod:

Oatmeal: proven to help lower cholesterol and has tons of fiber, which leaves you feeling full & satisfied longer, regulates digestion & controls blood sugar. ( source )

Cinnamon: first of y’all… it’s just yum. Cinnamon is also known to control blood sugar. ( source )

Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener: the real star of this is my new favorite stevia sweetener, Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener. This stuff has zero calories ( duh ) AND zero artificial ingredients. I sprinkle this in my oatmeal to make it a little sweeter, without that nasty, fake sweetener aftertaste. PS: I also carry a couple of packets around with me to sneak into my coffee/tea/etc. Yum. 

Hemp Hearts: a fellow blogger, Lauryn of The Skinny Confidential, introduced me to raw hemp hearts via this blog post, and I am so intrigued by Hemp now! Hemp hearts contain lots of fiber & protein to make you feel full and to help you maintain energy. They also contain Omega-3 & Omega-6 fatty acids that are super good for your bod ( metabolism, hair, nails, skin, etc ). Read more here.

Berries: Fiber! Natural Sugars! Good Carbs! Fruit is the most perfect food.

ZING UP CLOSE

I can honestly say that good oatmeal is one of those foods that I undervalue until I’m eating it.

Like Oreos. Does anyone else forget how much they love Oreos until you are eating Oreos? That happens to me every time.

Though I do wish oatmeal tasted like Oreos, this recipe that I use for a solid bowl of oats is so so so yum. Plus: it makes you feel good in the morning, right-off-the-bat, which is extremely important to me, especially as of late.

I cannot make it through my normal day of classes, work, studying, answering infinite e-mails, taking care of my dog, taking care of myself, maintaining my sanity, etc, etc, etc. without the proper fuel. This oatmeal recipe is like superpower in a bowl.

It’s fiber, protein, good carbs, & omegas in a bowl ( i.e. ENERGY ), to be exact.
