So, its no secret that I am an avid ( AKA obsessive ) Pinterest user.
I recently pinned my 15,000th pin, actually. Yeah, I live for that shit.
My point is, I have used Pinterest to garner inspiration for years, and I ESPECIALLY use the quotes I find as therapy/ inspo/ reason to live basically. I can’t get enough. ( Side: You can follow my Quote board here for rad daily words. )
Last time I did a post like this, I got a really great overall response, so lets just make a series out this, shall we? Sweet. Let’s do it.
10 Quotes: To Make You Just Fucking Do It
Since I moved out to LA ( actually, since I started my blog ), I’ve gotten a lot of messages/ texts/ emails from girls applauding my actions. Yeah, I’ve gotten some shit too, but I think that kind of commentary is helpful as well ( we can talk about this later ).
One thing I’ve heard from a lot of people is how they wish they could be doing what I am doing. My only response is….. why aren’t you doing it? In my book, if I want to do it ( whatever ‘it’ is), I’m going to do it. My mother can attest to this one ( lolz, sorry for being the most difficult child ever, Mom ). Sometimes, this facet of my personality is a real bitch to deal with. Whoops. Most of the time, though, going for what it is that I want ( in the work world, at least ) has set me apart from the pack. And I fucking love it.
Basically, last year, I wasn’t entirely happy or stimulated or inspired. At all. For me, working on something and staying busy has been the easiest route to happiness. I have to be productive all day, everyday. At this time last year, I knew I wasn’t myself anymore. I was bored ( & going out all the time/ watching Netflix like it was my job to fill my time ) and I wanted to do something to change that. So, I made a simple plan to get me exactly where I am right now. ( If you’re bored with planning, suck it up. You’re going to need some sort of outline to achieve your goals ).
I knew that I wanted to spend some time in California and work in fashion ( because what girl doesn’t love some badass clothes? ).
I started my old blog, Ramblings of a Wild One, to create a running resume of my knowledge of clothes and how to put outfits together, prove that I knew something about social media, and provide proof that I could keep up with something of this magnitude ( it’s wayyyyy more work than it looks like! ). As a Political Science major, this move was necessary. Then, after a few months of work on the blog, I applied to my internship with For Love & Lemons, and heard back a few days later.
Side: I get a lot of Q’s about how I found out about this internship opp & how I got the job. I literally went to Internships.Com, typed in ‘Fashion’ as my internship type, and selected Los Angeles as the desired location. I saw the opportunity with For Love & Lemons, and e-mailed my resume/cover letter. Then, I had a brief Skype interview with the head of PR, and boom, got it. So so so so so simple. ( If you wanna ask me any more Qs about this, comment below and I’ll contact you! )
It wasn’t overly difficult or confusing or stressful. I just decided where I wanted to be, and created a simple plan to get me there. Its all about being intentional and taking action.
Also, you are going to have to learn to make decisions for yourself, rather than doing what is popular ( LOLz: blogging where I’m from is basically a certain form of social-suicide… even my good friends were like… ummm wtf are you doing? ). Because who really cares what ‘popular’ is ( we aren’t 12 anymore )? I’m not really concerned with what everyone else is doing anyways. You shouldn’t care either.
Just go fucking do what you want. And do it right now.
Here are a few of my favorite quotes to reference ( daily, if you can ) to help you get up off of your ass and make it happen for yourself.
& You Can find my Pinterest here ( for more amazing quotes from some incredible peeps ).
Talk soon. xx
