Morning, morning, babes.
Today we’re going to talk about my go-to morning routine to reset myself for a big week or to set a more relaxed tone to the day.
Most mornings, I’m running off to shoot, going to a showroom, headed to an event, getting a workout in, etc, etc, etc. I schedule my days like this on purpose, usually, because I want a reason to get my ass out of bed.
Working for yourself means really learning to manage your time & forcing yourself to do things you don’t want to do on a constant basis. No one is there to micromanage you or punish you if you don’t stay focussed ( your business will just suffer… ), so accountability to yourself is key.
That being said, when I get a free morning to myself, I make sure to take a total “me” morning. ( ps- I also schedule these in because I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t meticulously schedule in my “relax time,” LOL ).
I’m big into treating myself to relaxing alone time. Remember my key to fixing an off day post? Treat. Yo. Self.
So, here’s what I’m up to on a me morning:
1. Getting Up
I usually wake up around 8 AM, because I don’t want to sleep in too long, especially on a week day. I’ll lay around for a few minutes ( note: on normal mornings I have to dramatically force myself out of bed upon waking to ensure I don’t fall back asleep ) & check my social media/e-mail on my phone. Even on me mornings, I like to make sure e-mails are answered & social media is posted.
2. Make a BIG Glass of Lemon Water.
I sip this throughout the morning! Hydration after waking up is a major key.
3. Turn on Diffuser & Light Candles
Lately, I’m diffusing Peppermint, Lemon, & Eucalyptus in the AM. You can learn more about my favorite essential oils for energy here.
4. Music
I’ll throw on a Spotify playlist to get myself up & going. The kind of music I listen to depends on the day, but I’ll usually turn on my Hustle + Halcyon playlist right when I wake up.
5. Quick Morning Yoga
This is a very recent add to my morning routine. I’ll go through a little 15-minute yoga sequence upon waking up to get my blood flowing on me mornings. Stretching in the morning feels AMAZE.
6. Breakfast, duh.
Clearly, breakfast is one of the most important facets of a me morning. I’ll usually opt for one my normal breakfast spreads ( eggs with tomato & spinach, avocado, gluten-free toast, & fruit ) & my go-to iced coffee. After making my cute lil breakfast spread, I’ll turn on a show like Vice News Tonight or a funny classic like The Office while eating ( I still have The Office on all day, every day pretty much ).
7. Work/ Clean/ Organize.
Being productive, for me, is ultra-relaxing. On me mornings, I’ll take a minute to clean, send some e-mails, post, strategize content, research new ideas, read something inspiring, organize part of my closet, etc. All of those things are SO relaxing to me.
8. Get Moving.
After some time getting my life in order, I like to get exercise in by heading up to my local pilates gym or going on a long walk. Luckily for me, there’s an Alfred ( fav coffee place ever ) in Brentwood, which is about a mile from my apartment. I’ll throw on a podcast ( or call my Mom to talk her ear off ) and walk to Alfred for an almond milk latte, & walk back. It usually takes me just under an hour, which is PERFECT.
9. Get Ready for the Day.
To end my me morning, I like to shower, partake in some ice rolling, do a face mask, and put in some effort on makeup, hair & getting dressed. By this time, early afternoon is approaching, which means I actually get up & get out of the house to do real work or run errands. For me, putting myself together in this way makes me feel 1000x more productive, clean, & ready to take on the rest of the day.
10. Get Going, obviously.
So, that’s my me morning. It’s relaxing while still being productive. Like I said, productivity is relaxing to me.
The purpose of my more drawn out morning routine is to get up, moving, & mentally/physically prepared, while not stressing out. I don’t lay around like a bum ( because that usually makes me more tired ), but I also don’t get up & start running around LA like a chicken with my head cut off on mornings like these.
LOL– I’m again realizing how single I am… my perfect mornings: me, alone, with food, The Office, my diffuser, my computer, & my mother via telephone.
I fucking love it.

Is there anything specific y’all do when you’re having a chill morning? I know most of you work or have school on the week days, but me morning weekends are also so bomb.
Ahhhh, bliss.
Now that I’m in the relaxed morning mindset, I’m off to have my ass kicked in a class called ‘Precision Running.’ If I die today, it was nice knowing y’all.
Talk soon. xx

After reading this, I’m dying to copy your entire routine and see how it would help me throughout the day. I’m sure that those essential oils (gah I love essential oils) and the music would help me the most. I also need to get better at eating a full breakfast. I usually don’t eat til around 11-12 and it’s always something like cereal or a muffin – not at all nourishing haha! Thanks for sharing!
